![]() Trixie Belden and the Mystery of The PhoenixThis is a crossover story, pairing Trixie Belden and the familiar New York settings with the characters from the 1982 TV series "The Phoenix." "The Phoenix" ran for 4 episodes, plus a 90 minute pilot movie, but in spite of its brevity, it attracted something of a cult following. Information, and photos, on the series can be found on this page. As a brief synopsis: Archeologists working in Peru located a hidden chamber in a temple. Within the chamber was a sarcophogus. Words inscribed on the top of the sarcophagus said, "I am the Bennu, of the Golden Light, who brings incense to Osiris." Here's a picture of the top of the sarcophagus: ![]()
The archeologists were understandably confused - Bennu seemed to be an Egyptian name, and, of course, Osiris is an Egyptian god. What were they doing in Peru? The sarcophagus - and the contents of a perfectly preserved (possibly living?) man were taken to Southern California, where a lab with sophisticated equipment was located. The sarcophagus was opened, destroying information in its memory, and the man was revived. The man, Bennu, managed to escape from this facility, and from the scientists who wished to 'study' and control him. Bennu is an ancient astronaut who had been left on Earth to assist her people at some future time. Unfortunately, Bennu doesn't know what it is that he is to do on Earth - that information had been stored in the memory of his sarcophagus. Now he is forced to travel, looking for his partner, Mira, who had also been left here. He hopes that the memory of her sarcophagus will be intact. As he travels, Bennu must avoid a government agent, Justin Preminger of the National Security Agency, who is tracking him, intent on returning him to custody. He must also contend with another from his home world, Yago, who wants to enslave the Earth and the human race. Yago frequently appears to Bennu in the form of a wolf. Bennu must depend upon the power of the sun to give him energy and to sustain him in this alien atmosphere. Yago makes use of the powers of darkness and the moon to sustain him. Sooner or later, these powers will clash ...
